South Boston Speedway announces schedule for 2023

South Boston Speedway has revealed the 2023 season schedule of NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series events, the track announced Friday.

The list contains 12 event dates for the four regular NASCAR racing divisions in South Boston, and also includes three special events.

Chase Brushers, general manager of South Boston Speedway, said additional special events and promotions will be announced after details are finalized.

“The 2022 season was fantastic as we celebrated the track’s 65th anniversary, brought the highway back to primetime television, hosted the SRX Series, had an epic 4th of July race to start the late Virginia Triple Crown model and so much more,” said South Boston Speedway. General Manager Chase Brushers. “We look forward to continuing this momentum into the 2023 season, and we cannot thank our fans, racing teams, sponsors and other stakeholders enough to make the 2022 season a huge success. The 2023 season will be another stellar year of racing, and we are delivering the bulk of the 2023 schedule now. Still We have several other special events and promotions that we are working on for the upcoming season, and they will be announced throughout the slack.”

Highway will open the 2023 NASCAR racing season on March 18, one week after the annual Open Practice/Media Day event, scheduled for March 11.

The season opener on March 18 at South Boston Speedway will include four NASCAR Regular Highway Racing Divisions, the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Auto Division, the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division, the Southside Disposal Pure Stock Division, and the Virginia State Police. Hornets Division.

The second event on the 2023 schedule for South Boston Speedway is the first of three special events on the schedule. Set to take place on April Fools’ Day, the event features powerful open-wheeled cars on the modified SMART Tour. The NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Late Model Stock Car division was also shown on that date, which will be the last of the afternoon racing events early in the season.

Other departments participating in this event will be announced later.

The jewel in the crown is set at South Boston Speedway ahead of the Fourth of July, the Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200 event, on July 1. The race is the start of the Virginia Late Model Triple Crown Series.

The Track Limited Sport, Pure Stock, and Hornets teams will also be working that night. A fan festival and training day was scheduled the day before.

“This year’s event featured one of the most exciting and exciting finishes that fans have seen at South Boston Speedway in many years, and we expect the 2023 event to be just as exciting,” Brachers said. “We also had a lot of fun with Fan Fest that followed the training day, and we look forward to hosting that again in 2023.”

The third special event shown on the schedule is South Boston 270 August 19. Details surrounding this event, which will include the Late Model Stock Car and Limited Sportsman divisions, will be announced at a later date.

The first night race of the 2023 season is scheduled to begin in South Boston on April 22. All four divisions of NASCAR’s regular races on the track will be running that night.

The track will conclude the 2023 season of the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series points racing with Championship Night on September 2, with an event featuring the four NASCAR racing sections on the track.
